If I was your Girlfriend...

Thank you, Prince. I do wish you were my girlfriend, but that's another story for another newsletter. Let's pretend like The Firm is your significant other, and you know, it's a great day at the Firm and everything, but we're wondering if things could be greater. Yes, we’re ready to take it to the next level. You know what I’m talking about. We’re ready to meet your parents, give you some space in the bureau, give you a key and ask for your input in major decisions. But we’re also going to start farting in front of you.

Of course, I’m speaking ANALOGY-LY. What we’re ready to do is take things to a new level with you fitness-wise. See, we’ve really got a good thing going. We love having you around, and we want to see you more and more. Let’s take things up a notch for 2010. Can we look at your list of fitness goals? You know, as a loving couple?

SamyHow are you eating, baby?

We've got a whole menu (pun intended) of services that you can employ to find out more about the best way for you to eat. Very simple changes may increase your energy, optimize
your workouts, make you less hormonal and cranky, clear up your skin... and that's just the beginning.

  • Nutritional Counseling By learning how to eat proper amounts of carbs, calories, protein and fat you can rejigger your metabolism, and get the most out of yourworkout. You can work out like a maniac for the rest of your life, but changing how you
    eat is what's really going to change your shape. Our experts can design a formula for
    you that will make this all very, very easy.
  • Food Sensitivity Analysis Okay, so here's the thing: no matter who you are, you're
    sensitive to something. There are varying degrees of this, from deathly intolerant to
    slightly not cool. After we're done with you, you'll have a list of foods you should never
    touch, foods that you'd do better without and foods that will make you feel like a
    million bucks.
  • Detox Let's say you just found out from your food sensitivity analysis (see above) that
    you shouldn't be eating a huge bowl of Cap'n Crunch every morning when you wake
    up, and for a mid-afternoon snack and right before bed every night, but guess what
    you've been doing for the past six months? Yeah. A detox program will "reset" your
    body and get it back to square one and ready to abosorb all those healthy nutrients
    you're about to indulge it with.
  • ALCAT This is all very technical and sciencey, so let me break it down: the antigen
    leukocyte cellular antibody test, or ALCAT screens for adverse reactions to foods,
    additives, preservatives, and other things you might be putting into your body. By
    finding out where your intolerances are, you can avoid foods or chemicals that may be
    making you irritable, or sick. Or maybe you're not feeling irritable or sick, but you're
    just wondering why your workouts aren't working. This may help. Or maybe you're
    already doing everything perfectly. Yeah, right.
  • BIA, or Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, gives us a sense of how healthy you are
    by measuring your extra- and intra-cellular water. From this we can deduce your
    metabolic rate, body fat, Your Total Daily Energy Expenditure, and your Resting
    Energy Expenditure. This should be done right away for baseline figures, and then
    quarterly, or after any big changes in your body (having a baby, gaining or losing a
    significant amount of weight, illness, etc.)

SamyDo you need some Health coaching, my pet?

Maybe you're the type who can put a new transmission in your car. Maybe you're the type that can rewire a house. Maybe you're the type that can give yourself a filling for a cavity. And
maybe you're the type who can coach yourself through a new health regimen and can do your own analyses of your baseline and your progress. Buuuuut... you're probably not.

My point is, you go to experts all the time because they've been doing this kind of thing forever, and they know more than you. Spare yourself the guesswork and just come straight
to us for help.

 

Body Fat Testing can help you get a specific plan for what you should and shouln't
be eating. This measurement is so much more helpful than a bathroom scale. You can
get a false sense of your own healthfulness when you weigh yourself, because less
means happy and more means sad. Well, the problem is that when you lose body fat
and increase muscle mass you will weigh more, but be smaller. Did I just blow your
mind? Make an appointment with our experts and we'll blow your mind every day.

Fitness Programming Whatever your goal, we have a solution. Do you want to
increase your flexibility? Work on your six pack? Bulk up or trim down? We've got a
plan for you. With our recommendations for classes and/or personal training, you can
see better results faster.

Cholesterol Maintenance we can perform some simple tests to find out where you
are, and what you should be doing differently to keep your bad Cholesterol low and
good cholesterol high and your heart as healthy as it can be.

Asthma Maintenance your asthma may be triggered by a food sensitivity (see
above). Let us figure out what you should and shouldn't be putting into your body,
and your lungs will thank us!

Arthritis Maintenance Let's have you do an ALCAT (see above) to figure out where
the problems are. We'll come up with a plan for you to ease your aching joints. (Young
people: this means you too. You're never too young to start preventing arthritis.)

You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars a week at the Firm to reap the benefits of dozens of brains full of health and fitness expertise. Taking a class is kind of like being in a personal training session with 50 or 60 of your closest friends.

Are you a cardio junkie?

I'm guessing that there are many of you reading this who only doDoug's classes, or Brad's classes, or only take spin. To get the most out of your cardio, and to get the most out of your hotness, you should really think about adding yoga or Pilates and some type of lifting, like Weights 101, Muscle Conditioning or Core. Same goes for all you gym bunnies. Let's throw in a Circuit Training class! Yogis: get thee to a Strip Tease or Funk class!

Yes, it is always a great day at The Firm

What you probably love most about The Firm is that although we may grow and change with
the trends, it's always a familiar face at the front of the room, greeting you in the PT Studio,
and checking you in at the front desk. We're always going to be there for you, and we're
thrilled beyond belief that you've stuck with us, too. That goes for the people who tried the
free week and joined up yesterday, and the people who have been with us since 1986. We've
got a good thing going, and we just want to make it even better, hot stuff.
